In confidence

  1. It is this sort of confidence that adds such vitality and spontaneity to writing -- which is why I enjoy the writing process on a typewriter so very much.

  2. Thank you so much for that.
...All I can say, really. Amazing.

  3. You hit the nail on the head, Rob. That's the true essence of joy that I find with typewriters, the crafting of a piece where you don't know how it will end up when you first start out. And the part about one's personal style remaining somewhat neutral with mechanically printed text is a great insight, as it focuses the reader on the content, rather than superficial appearances.

  5. Nice put, Rob. I tend to climb aboard a typewriter with a hazy idea of what I plan to write, but, truth be told, I would probably benefit from writing out a first draft by hand.
Still, using a typewriter is such a pleasurable experience, and on some rare occasions, the writing itself takes over and basically writes itself to the point where I'm happy with the end result and only minor editing is required. It doesn't happen often, but when it does...
